Summary

Mars is a must-see series in my opinion, and the DVD / Blu-ray contains some awesome extras and behind-the-scenes back story that make it worth owning.

Nat Geo broke new ground with the series ‘MARS’. The hybrid of scripted sci-fi drama with real-world documentary footage resulted in a series that was simultaneously entertaining and educational. Now, you can own the series on DVD or Blu-ray, with some pretty cool extras.

MARS was the most DVR’ed series in Nat Geo history. I know that is how my son and I watched it. More than 36 million people watched Mars. The tremendous success of the series led Nat Geo to green light a second season.

If you haven’t seen the series, then buying the DVD or Blu-ray set is pretty much a no-brainer as far as I’m concerned. If you’re one of the 36 million who already watched the 6-episode series, though, there is still plenty of new content on the DVD and Blu-ray to make it worth the investment.

The discs include a ton of extras, such as:
  • Making MARS
  • BEFORE MARS — A Prequel
  • BEFORE MARS Behind the Scenes
  • Getting to MARS Featurettes
  • Living on MARS Featurettes
  • More MARS Featurettes
  • Behind-the-scenes Featurettes
  • Cast & Crew Interviews

I am looking forward to season 2 of MARS, so I was excited for the opportunity to watch more in the meantime. The “making of” and behind-the-scenes content is very interesting, but my favorite content is the stuff that expands the characters and extends the storyline. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but the Before MARS prequel is awesome.

You should definitely check out the DVD or Blu-ray content. Hopefully, it will help you get your MARS fix like it did for me.
